Every Monday the AI Working Group meets to share how we're using AI in our work and lives. This week a new face joined: Matt Winkler. He shared that he's spent more than 20 years coding, building websites and consulting, and that AI now lets him work much faster and finally build his own side businesses.
That sounded a lot like my own path, so I wrote in the chat: we have a lot in common, let's talk one-on-one. We met the next morning.
From a conversation to a profile
We each shared our backstory (you can read mine on my AIWG member profile). Then, with Matt's permission, I used the transcript of our call to create his featured member profile on aiwg.org, with his headshot, his LinkedIn, how he's using AI today, and the areas he wants to explore or get help with next. He's the first member in our new Featured Members section.
The same transcript also became an article: AI in the Real World: Matt Winkler & David Prorok, about how AI is changing creative and marketing work.
One hour of genuine conversation turned into a welcome, a profile and a published article, and nobody had to sit down and write any of it from scratch. That's the kind of leverage I want every member of our community to have.
Why there's "web" in "website"
Think about the word website. It has web in it because the whole thing is about connections: computers connected to computers, and pages connected to other pages.
This article links to the AI Working Group. The article on aiwg.org mentions projects like Ecstatic Dance: Suburbia and Yoga Electronica. Those pages connect to the DJs, yoga teachers and space holders we work with, and their sites connect to others. Each link is a thread, and together they form a web.
Search engines and AI assistants read that web. When real, related sites point to each other, it helps them understand who's connected to what and which pages are worth showing. It's already happening: people have started reaching out because an AI assistant recommended my events. A genuine link between real collaborators is worth more than any trick.
Want your own profile?
If you're using AI in your work, come to a Monday AI Working Group meeting. And if you want your own story turned into a profile, article or website, book an AI & app building session.
